Glenn Usry

SENIOR PASTOR

Christian Outreach of the Piedmont is a vision graced to its president, Glenn Jay Usry. He is a native of Hempstead, N.Y., the son of Lee and the late Oscar Usry. He served several years as an associate minister at Jackson Memorial African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church in Hempstead, New York before becoming a full time student at Livingstone College and Hood Theological Seminary in Salisbury, North Carolina. At Livingstone he received a B.A. in English and a Masters of Religious Education from Hood Theological Seminary. 

Pastor Usry founded Christian Outreach of the Piedmont Inc. in 1994 after spending several years as a pastor in the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church. 



He is the co-author of the two nationally acclaimed books entitled Black Man’s Religion and Defending Black Faith (published by Intervarsity Press) 

Pastor Glenn Usry is the husband of Ruta Williams Usry and the father of Vashti Aliyah and Corban Lael Usry. 

Ruta Usry

PASTOR

Ruta Williams Usry is the wife of Pastor Glenn Usry, 

the Pastor of Christian Outreach of the Piedmont in 

Statesville, NC. They have 2 children a daughter 

(24 yrs old )and son(21yrs old)She is very active within 

the ministry. She operates in the areas of a Minister of 

the Gospel, a Prayer Team Member,Sunday School teacher, 

as well as a choir member and Praise and Worship Leader. 

She is also the Parent Teacher Facilitator and Reading 

Coach for Success Institute Charter School which was 

birthed out of Christian Outreach . Although, she has 

different titles and positions, she believes that You 

don’t need a title to please God in doing the work He’s 

called you to do.For “THE ANNOINTING HAS NO RESPECT OF 

PERSONS”
